The sale of paintings
by Archie B. Teater benefits children with disabilities through
a fund in the Idaho Community Foundation.
The Teaters were childless,
but Archie had a special love for children. Both he and Patricia
wanted to help physically challenged children in perpetuity. To
accomplish this objective, they left their entire collection of
Teater’s work with instructions that the proceeds from its
sale should be used to establish a fund which would benefit children
with disabilities.
Archie Teater died on July 19, 1978,
and was followed by his wife Patricia in 1980.
The Idaho Community Foundation
is Idaho’s only statewide philanthropic organization supported
by the public with private funds, assisting a broad range of charitable,
cultural, and educational projects within Idaho and occasionally
beyond the state’s borders.
A community foundation
is a tax-exempt public charity that enables individuals and organizations
to achieve their charitable intent by establishing charitable funds
within the Foundation. Each fund is governed by its own legal document
and is accounted for separately. The funds are pooled for more efficient
and cost effective investment management.
